About Us
Unreal.ie as it is today started in the unreal forum on boards.ie. Back in March of 2004 a thread was started looking for people interested in starting a regular game of onslaught on Irish servers to promote teamplay. Luckily there was interest, and the first match was scheduled for the Third of April 2004. From that regular games developed and every Thursday and Sunday night a small band of us would meet up on the iol ut2k4 games server, and every day we would meet up on the boards unreal forum just to have a chat.
Over time a few things happened. We started to get a lot more people joining the forum and saying hello, we also started playing more and more so that pretty much every night was a regular games night. The main catalyst for starting our own site though was a time when boards.ie was having technical problems and we could no longer communicate via the forum. It eventually came to a head in December 2004, and a new era of UT in Ireland started in this thread, through which unreal.ie was born.
Unreal.ie was created and developed very quickly, the first tests of our own bespoke forum being in January 2005, and thanks to a lot of hard work, and dedication we have the site you're now looking at. Everyone at unreal.ie is very proud of what's been achieved so far, and the future is looking good for the unreal franchise in Ireland thanks to the continued support of our members.
Everyone in unreal.ie would like to thank the good people at boards.ie for giving us UT players an outlet and a place to meet other like minded people, and we'd also like to thank the admins of the iol games servers who gave us a home for our gaming fix.
And for good measure here are some memories compiled for us by jozi...
