Yup exactly. I'd imagine it would be a small step to include a link below the video if using [youtube1][/youtube1] bbcode tags.
Ya they tend not to start automatically, but what I meant was for someone who wants to view the youtube page rather than just the embedded player they have to click the embedded player to play before you can click to go to the youtube website with the video.
I don't think the actual video gets cached just the player or if the video does get cached the browser can't tell it's the same so when you view the youtube webpage rather than the embedded player it has to load again.

As much as I love the idea, I just cannot bring myself to allowing youtube embedding 
The embedded element is actually the Youtube Flash player ( example: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=56534202&postcount=1159 ) If anyone can locate a way to embed an *image* of the youtube video instead of the actual player, I'd be more than happy to do it, but embedding the player itself makes me unhappy
