Important Information for Regular Unreal.IE Users

Unreal.IE is a community driven website. No one is paid for the work that is done here. Everyone volunteers some of their free time to administer the physical systems we run, the services we provide, moderate the community facing sections of the forum, moderate and maintain the games servers and many, many more behind the scenes tasks that are completed on a weekly if not daily basis.

I'm not looking for praise, and neither would I, but I'm posting this to highlight a problem that has cropped up since the latest downtime (caused by an O/S reinstall for the web server)

Unreal.IE has no SLA with anyone. Nor does anyone have an SLA with us. We provide our services, for free, to many people who may or may not have a connection with the website or UT in Ireland.

Because of this fact, we cannot guarantee that our services will remain up for 24 hours a day, for 7 days a week, for 365 days a year. We cannot guarantee that we will be up tomorrow. And we cannot say for sure that we will even exist in 1 weeks time.
If you rely on Unreal.IE for critical files, either on your own private FTP space, or on a public download space that we provide, then put simply, you are playing Russian Roulette.

If you are using our services for something that you absolutely cannot live without on a day to day basis, you have no one to blame but yourself if we experience downtime, or service issues such as the current FTP and user webspace issues that we are trying to resolve.

I'll say it again for clarity:
Using Unreal.IE for anything that you consider absolutely critical will result in you being an unhappy bunny. Maybe not now, maybe not next month, but odds are that you will be affected by some form of outage in the future.

I'm sorry to have to clarify this so forcefully, but the point absolutely has to be driven home,
