Unreal 'Evolution'? Game On!

This particular misty eyed gamer remembers with kindness the amazingly addictive game that was Unreal.
Built using the original Unreal Engine, it never failed to suck me into its world and frighten the living bejaysus out of me.

Every. Time. I. Played.

Well, it would appear that there is a newfound community effort underway to revive what was one of the shining stars of the Unreal franchise, and completely blot out the memory of the shambles that was Unreal 2.

Sir_Brizz, on the beyondunreal forums, has posted this (original here:http://forums.beyondunreal.com/showthread.php?t=180054 ) :

Today I've decided to start organizing an Unreal remake for UT3 that I'm (tentatively) calling Unreal Evolution.

Obviously, this is an enormous project to undertake, so I've decided it should probably be done in small sections and released in sections as well.

I'm planning to support level streaming, co-op, and lots of other things as well.

To do this, I'm going to need a lot of content authors. The code will probably be fairly straight forward, but there is a lot of content to make. As an introductory pass I want to remake NyLeve's Falls (it's the first complex map) in UT3.

If you want to help, let me know. We mostly need modelers, texture artists, skinners, animators but we can also use the help of coders and mappers (we have some mappers). Drop me a PM with an example of something you've made before possibly if you are at all interested.

Hope to see some positive response!

Overall, I think its a very good idea, but only time will tell if it can be executed well, or if it will fall by the wayside as community apathy takes effect.

Best of luck Brizz, I really do hope to see something good come out of this!
